Fiscal deficit

A fiscal deficit occurs if a government's expenses far exceed the revenue generated from taxes that may lead to issuing more debt to cover expenses. A fiscal deficit is used by some governments to stimulate an ailing economy by either lowering taxes to the point of a deficit or increasing the money supply through issuing more debt.
