Dividend

A form of payment distributed to a company's shareholders. A dividend must be declared and decided by a firm's board of directors. Dividend is paid in cash or stock and are usually issued out by stable companies. A company who distributes dividends does not have a tendency for its stock to rise in value as much as companies who retain earnings.
