Maintenance margin


This is the minimum amount of funds an investor has to maintain to activate or use margin. For example, for an investor to receive a 50% margin or loan from a broker, the account should at least have $5,000 of real funds. If the funds fall below that value, positions would be liquidated to compensate the broker.
