The practice of altering the price of an asset by means of artificial or false reports about the company. This activity is illegal and companies with a smaller market capitalization is very vulnerable to this. Some forms of manipulation includes buying a huge volume enough to influence the price and as other investors jump in the initial purchase is dumped. Another is spreading good news that has no true basis.
