Profit warning

A profit warning is an action performed by companies to warn investors and the world that the earnings assumed by analysts will not hit the mark. A profit warning prevents a heavy downward momentum on a company's stock when earnings are announced. The advisory is usually given in advance to change investors sentiment slowly.
