Retired securities

Retired securities are shares of a company that no longer has any monetary value other than a collectible item. Companies who wish to destroy stock and decrease outstanding shares typically purchases their own stocks from the public stock exchange using funds coming from retained earnings. After the purchase, the company will no longer circulate the stock.
