Ring fencing

Ring fencing refers to business actions that protects consumers from wild price fluctuations. Ring fencing is done to seperate a regulated utility business from a parent company that is less regulated. In effect, when the parent company goes into deep financial trouble, its public utility business will not be affected because it is not directly connected to the parent company.
