Stop loss order

Stop loss order or stop order is an instruction given to the broker to execute a trade at a pre-determined price. This prevents the trader from accumulating heavy losses while away from a trading station or platform. For example if the trader enters a trade at $50 and sets a stop loss at $48.50, the broker will exit their client's position if the stock drops to $48.50.
