Strategic buyer

Strategic buyer is an acquirer with the intent to create a synergy with the company its trying to buy. A strategic buyer usually sees something more on a company that its trying to acquire other than the financial value it may add to the acquirer's company. For instance, if a company can reduce cost in manufacturing a particular product by buying a company that makes or mines the raw material needed then the synergy benefits the acquirer.
