Wash sale rule

Wash sale rule is a tax rule in the United States' Internal revenue Services that prohibits an investor from declaring a loss on an investment if the same equity has been bought before and after a 30 day time frame. This prevents tax evasion when an investor simultaneously buys and sells a stock through two different brokers and declares a loss on one of them.
