Line charts

Line charts are the most commonly used charting method, characterized by lines connecting closing prices within a specified time frame. Line charts clearly depict the general direction of the stock, currency or other financial instruments. However, since line charts only record the closing prices, it doesn't register the price range which is indicative of real volatility. Performing technical analysis using line charts are somewhat limited. A good feature of this chart is that it shows vectors of an ongoing trend which is clearly visible compared to a distorted looking bar or candlestick chart.
