Arms-length transaction

Arms length transaction is a transaction made between parties where the execution of the transaction does not include any economic interest. If a company executive sells assets to a family member who is also an official of a company with a common rival, after using a broker to transfer the asset at a fair price the seller avoids a conflict of interest from the board directors.
