Bermuda tax shelter is a tax loophole that allows property to be moved to Bermuda to avoid paying taxes on income. Insurance companies who move their headquarters to Bermuda or being deliberately acquired by a firm based in in Bermuda can take advantage of this loophole. In 2000, this loophole was fixed by the US congress.
