In derivatives trading, a collar is an underwritten derivative that is designated to be traded with an over the counter stock.

In daily securities trading, a collar is a level when trading is temporarily stopped to prevent further panic and collapse in the stock market. Trading is resumed when buy and sell orders are balanced.
