Deep discount bond

Deep discount bond is a bond that has a long term maturity date and has a low interest rate compared to the current market rates. The low interest rate gives these bonds a steeply discounted price and because the maturity date is on a distant date, investors will eventually realize the same yield to maturity as high paying interest bonds with a higher price.
