Discounting the market

Discounting the market is the process when investors immediately act on an anticipated financial event in the future so that the present price of the stock are the ones affected instead of its future price. If an expected event is about to happen in three months, stock prices would immediately reflect its price 3 months from now so when the event happens, there would be so little movement because it was already reflected in the price.
