Equity base

Equity Base is the market price of a stock multiplied by the shares outstanding. Usually, a large equity base in relation to the actual stockholders' book value or equity indicating the shares are overpriced because of a risky market. The surplus price could also reflect investors' confidence that management grows the corporating fast thus enhance stockholders' equity and, in turn, the book value.
