Escheat

Escheat means the turning over the assets in dormant customer accounts to the appropriate state authority by a brokerage firm or bank after a regulated number of years have passed, inasmuch as these properties are deemed abandoned under the law. But subject to be reclaimed by the legitimate owners or their heirs.
