Escrow agent

Escrow Agent is a financial institution, like a bank, appointed by a company planning to buy a large block of stock in another company to receive tendered shares in the latter company from stockholders hoping to sell. The shares are held in escrow as their purchase at a clear price is contingent upon aminimum number being presented for sale to the escrow agent.
