Fallen angels

Fallen angels is a term used to describe bonds that fell out of investment grade. Analysts can downgrade bonds from investment quality to a junk one if their financial capabilities deteriorate. Once a company's financial status has been weakened due to internal or external problems, it will be much more likely that they will default on their obligations leaving holders of the security on the losing side.
