Underwriter

An underwriter is an investment banker that purchases the new securities issue for resale at a profit. An underwriter will buy the new stock issues by a corporation at a discount, the company gets the needed capital to fuel its operations while the underwriter profits from the purchased discounted stocks because it will be offered to the public at a much higher price.
